Thank you for your interest in creating Site Art for Solfest!
Applications are now being sought for funding of £100-£1,000 from artists who are keen to keep busy in lockdown and get creating straight away for this years festival.
The deadline for applications is: 28/02/21
Applicants will need to complete a proposal form and include visual images of the piece they intend to create in addition to examples of their previous work.
Please use a website browser to ensure the best possible experience in answering the questions in the form.
This year’s theme is: Into the Deep. Preference will be shown to proposals that have an undersea theme. Applications are being sought for site art only, this is art that will be installed outdoors in all weathers. The Solfest site is windy and of course though we hope it doesn’t it may rain. Your piece should be weatherproof and robust enough for the Cumbrian climate! If you are interested in making indoor décor for a venue please contact and we’ll put you in touch with the venue team.
Your piece must be appropriate for a family-friendly festival and must be safe and sturdy when installed. It must have no sharp edges, toxic materials or glass in its design and no parts that are loose and easily removed.
Solfest is always keen to reduce our environmental impact so preference will be shown for designs that include a substantial amount of recycled/repurposed waste material or sustainable natural materials in their design.
Site art must be BIG! So your piece will need to be large or created with a number of smaller elements that collectively create a larger piece. Please ensure you include the rough dimensions of your piece in your proposal.
We will not be providing electrical hook-up for site art installations, so if your installation includes lights, etc. as they must be suitable for outdoor use, low voltage and solar powered.
